Understanding the Benefits of Acupuncture

In acupuncture treatment, extremely thin needles are inserted into the skin at various depths, targeting strategic points in the body. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is believed that health comes from a harmonious balance between the complementary extremes of the life force: qi or chi.

Qi flows through the meridians in your body, or pathways. These pathways are flowing with energy that is accessible through 350+ acupuncture points in the body. It is believed that illnesses result from an imbalance of forces, which means that insertion of needles in these points can help rebalance the energy flow in the body.

Studies indicate that acupuncture offers relief for a variety of diseases and conditions, including the following:

  • Lower back pain
  • Headaches
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Migraines
  • Osteoarthritis

In addition, research shows acupuncture can help provide relief for nausea and vomiting often caused by chemotherapy treatment.

Acupressure Seminar Series

This 5-week seminar will focus on providing information and hands-on instruction in the use of acupressure points both as a preventative health tool and to help alleviate specific symptoms common to patients undergoing cancer treatment.
