Our philosophy & approach

Our philosophy is to encourage patients and their families to participate in discussions and decision making about their treatment with their physicians and nurses. We recognize that people may feel helpless when cancer is diagnosed. Giving patients and loved ones a voice in their care helps to restore a sense of control, which is an important key to maintaining a positive outlook.

Cancer patients receive treatment, care and support from many specialists throughout Boulder Community Health. This full complement of services addresses each individual's physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs for our whole-person approach to cancer care.

Multidisciplinary cancer conferences

Held weekly, biweekly or monthly, BCH’s multidisciplinary cancer conferences bring together specialists from across disciplines to discuss patient cases and decide on the best treatment plans. These regularly held meetings foster collaboration between all specialists in order to provide a highly individualized, whole-person approach to a cancer patient's care.

BCH currently hosts four multidisciplinary cancer conferences:

  • Breast cancer
  • Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers
  • Genitourinary (GU) cancers (e.g., prostate cancer)
  • General (any other type of cancer diagnosis)
