Pilates for Cancer Rehabilitation

Details:

Pilates is a gentle full body form of exercise that is low impact and focuses on strength, flexibility and spinal stability. This mat class can be modified for individuals at many fitness levels and during any stage of cancer treatment. Exercise is known to decrease the negative side effects of cancer treatment. Pilates is an excellent way to improve posture, decrease stress and build a strong foundation for all types of exercise and activity.

Class Requirements:

• To have been diagnosed with a form of cancer, no matter how recent
• 18 years of age or older
• Knowledge of surgical procedures/cancer treatments
• Written precautions or restrictions from the participant’s physician
• Knowledge of all current medications (including supplements/vitamins) and treatments
• Ability to have punctual and consistent transportation for attendance
• Patients with lymphedema MUST wear appropriate compression garments for exercise
• Completed registration forms

$90 6-week class. Scholarships are available.
