Signing up
How do I sign up?
Patients who wish to participate will be issued a MyBCH activation code
when they receive a service at any BCH patient care facility. This code
will enable you to log in and create your own username and password. If
you were not issued an activation code or lost it, please contact the
Health Information Management (HIM) department at
MyBCH@bch.org or 303-415-7760, then press #3. You may also sign up without an activation
code via the “sign up now” link on the app or the MyBCH login
page by visiting
my.bch.org.
Can you send me a new activation code if I lost it, let it expire or did
not receive it?
To request a new activation code, please contact the Health Information
Management (HIM) department at
MyBCH@bch.org or call them at 303-415-7760, then press #3. After we verify your information,
a new code will be sent via email or U.S. Postal Mail.
Can my spouse and I share one MyBCH account?
No. Due to the sensitive nature of medical information, each adult must
establish their own MyBCH account.
My activation code does not work -- what should I do?
For your security, your activation code expires after 14 days and is no
longer valid after the first time you use it. If you still have problems,
email our Health Information Management (HIM) department at
MyBCH@bch.org or you can call them at 303-415-7760, then press #3.
MyBCH functions
When can I see my test results in MyBCH?
Generally, your test results are released to your MyBCH account within
3 days of being finalized.
If I send a message to my doctor or nurse, when can I expect a reply?
You will generally receive an answer within 1-3 business days. Please
note that MyBCH should not be used for urgent situations. Please contact
your clinic if the situation requires immediate attention or dial 911
if it is an emergency.
Can I use MyBCH to pay my doctor or hospital bills?
Yes. You can pay your bills securely and see your balances via the MyBCH
online portal or mobile app. However, this only applies when your date
of service was on or after October 1, 2019. If you wish to pay a bill
for a date of service on or before September 30, 2019, you must visit
bch.org/pay-my-bill.
What if I have a question about my bill?
For questions relating to a date of service on or before September 30, 2019:
Hospital-related services, call Patient Financial Services at 303-415-4700
BCH physician bills, call CMA Physicians of BCH at 303-415-4766
For questions relating to a date of service on or after October 1, 2019:
Please call the Patient Service Center at 303-415-5300
Where can I update my personal information (e.g., home address, email or
change my password)?
For the online portal, log into MyBCH, hover your cursor over the Profile
icon in the top menu and select Personal Information. For the app, log
into MyBCH click the three dots on the top right corner of the screen
and select Account Settings.
Can I view a family member's health record in MyBCH?
You can if you have set up proxy access that allows a parent (or guardian)
to log into their personal MyBCH account, and then connect to information
regarding their family member. Complete a MyBCH Proxy Access Form and
submit it to the Health Information Management (HIM) department. This
can be done within your MyBCH account by accessing Profile > Personalize.
Please see the Sharing Information section below for more information
regarding proxy access.
Can I ask questions regarding a family member from my MyBCH account?
No, not unless you have proxy access to that person. MyBCH offers direct
access to your personal health record. Questions asked about another individual's
information would be placed in your health record. Since that information
would not appear in the correct health record, it could potentially jeopardize
your medical care.
Can I do required paperwork before I come to the clinic or appointment?
If an upcoming appointment is eligible for eCheck-in, you can use it to
take care of tasks such as checking in ahead of your appointment, updating
personal, medical and insurance info, eSigning documents and answering
questionnaires.
Can I cancel an appointment in MyBCH?
Yes. Depending on the date and time of your next appointment, you might
be able to cancel through MyBCH. You can do this by viewing Visits >
Appointments and Visits, select the appointment from the list or click
Details. Then, click Cancel, enter cancelation comments and click Confirm
Cancellation.
What if I want to request a physical copy of my medical record?
Please contact our Health Information Management (HIM) department at
HIM@bch.org or you can call them at 303-415-7760, then press #3.
Sharing Information
What is proxy access?
Proxy access lets an individual view the medical records of another person
and make medical decisions for that person. A proxy is a parent or legal
guardian of a child; the legal guardian or holder of a health care power
of attorney for individuals age 18 or older; or another legally recognized
Personal Representative. A Personal Representative is a person who has
the authority under state law to consent to treatment on behalf of the
patient; including court-appointed guardians and parents on behalf of
unemancipated minors.
If I had proxy access through the old BCH portal, will that proxy access
automatically transfer to MyBCH?
No. You will need to fill out a new
proxy access form to establish your proxy access in MyBCH. You can do this by following
any of the methods mentioned below.
Can I give a family member or friend access to my account?
Yes. If you elect to, you can provide proxy access to your account. The
other person must also have a MyBCH or MyChart account with Epic. In the
online portal, this can be found under Your Menu > Share My Record
> Friends and family access. You may also provide this access in the
app by clicking the three vertical dots in the top right corner, select
Account Settings > Friends and Family Access.
Can I get access to my child or family member's account?
Yes, a parent or legal guardian of a minor may request proxy access to
view their child's account. Sign in to the online portal, and under
Profile > Personalize > Request access to a minor’s record.
These requests will be reviewed by BCH Health Information Management and
set up by HIM. Setting up this proxy access is currently only available
in the online portal or by contacting our Health Information Management
(HIM) department at
HIM@bch.org or you can call them at 303-415-7760, then press #3.
How can I set up proxy access?
There are four ways to establish a proxy using MyBCH:
- A patient can use MyBCH to invite someone else (friend or family member)
to have proxy access to their record. The other person must also have
a MyBCH or MyChart account with Epic. In the online portal, this can be
found under Your Menu > Share My Record > Friends and family access.
You may also provide this access in the MyBCH app by logging into your
account, clicking the three vertical dots in the top right corner, select
Account Settings > Friends and Family Access.
- A parent or guardian can use MyBCH to request proxy access to a minor’s
records. Sign in to the online portal, and under Profile > Personalize
> Request access to a minor’s record. These requests will be
reviewed by the BCH Health Information Management(HIM) department. A patient
can call HIM at 303-415-7760, then press #3, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
This is only for non-legal relationships. This proxy request is not currently
available in the MyBCH app.
- If a person wants to set up proxy access for a legal relationship (Power
of Attorney, Non-Parent Guardian, etc.), you must go to HIM in person
(4990 Pearl East Circle, Suite 100, Boulder; Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.).
- A patient can ask to be set up while they are in a clinic. This is only
for non-legal relationships.
Will proxy access automatically be severed once a minor reaches a certain age?
Yes. Proxy access of minors will automatically be severed once an enrolled
user reaches the age of 18. At age 12 access becomes much more limited.
What is the proper procedure for disabling proxy access (other than minors)?
Just like signing up, removing proxy access can only be done in-person
by submitting a revocation form. This can be done by visiting our Medical
Records Department at 4990 Pearl East Circle, Suite 100, Boulder; 303-415-7760;
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
If I have records with another health organization or hospital, can I see
both records in MyBCH?
Yes. You can use MyBCH to view your health information from other organizations
where you and your family have records. When you connect your accounts
from the participating organizations, you will be able to see information
such as allergies, care team, messages, test results, health issues, visit
summaries and medications. Simply log into your MyBCH account online and
go to Health > Share My Record > Connect Your Accounts. Please note,
the other organization must be using Epic’s Happy Together application
for you to see data from that organization within your MyBCH account.
Is it possible to grant another health organization continual access to
my MyBCH account?
Yes. This is called Care Everywhere and is used when you have services
at another health organization outside of BCH on a frequent basis. This
application allows the outside health care organization or provider to
see and access your health information stored at BCH. To learn more or
to opt out of Care Everywhere, please visit
bch.org/careeverywhere.
Potential Problems
If some of my health information on MyBCH is not correct, what should I do?
Your MyBCH information comes directly from your electronic health record.
Ask your doctor to correct any inaccurate information at your next clinic
visit. Your health information is reviewed and updated in your electronic
medical record each visit. You may also contact our Chart Corrections
Team by phone at 303-415-7792 or email Health Information Management (HIM) at
HIM@bch.org.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
You can click the "Forgot password" link on the MyBCH sign-in
page to reset your password online. You can also contact our Health Information
Management (HIM) department at 303-415-7760, then press #3 or
MyBCH@bch.org to request a new, secure password.
I was logged out of MyBCH, what happened?
We aim to protect the privacy and security of your information. While
logged into MyBCH, if your keyboard remains idle for 15 minutes or more,
you will be automatically logged out of MyBCH. We recommend that you log
out of your MyBCH session if you need to leave your computer for even
a short period of time.
Can I use MyBCH if I have an emergency and need to see my physician?
If you are experiencing a medical emergency of any kind, call 911.
Who do I contact if I have further questions?
You can contact our Health Information Management (HIM) department at
MyBCH@bch.org or call 303-415-7760, then press #3.
MyBCH App
Where can I find the MyBCH App?
You can download the MyBCH app in the Apple App Store or in the Google
Play Store. MyBCH is also available within the MyChart app provided by
Epic, just search for “MyBCH” or “Boulder Community
Health.”
Does the MyBCH app have all the same functions as the online portal?
The app has nearly all of the same functionality as the online portal.
However, some features such as downloading or requesting your record,
authorizing Care Everywhere, and accessing health trends and growth charts
are only available by logging into my.bch.org.
I have an existing MyChart account with another health care system, can
I sync it to MyBCH?
Not unless that other organization participates in Happy Together. You
will need to have a separate MyChart account for each health system you
visit. MyBCH will only show information relating to services completed
at Boulder Community Health facilities and its partners. You may, however,
access all your MyChart accounts in the MyChart app provided by Epic.
How is the MyBCH app different than the MyChart app from Epic?
While both include the same functionality and information, the MyBCH app
is a standalone app that features Boulder Community Health branding. We
recommend downloading the MyBCH app if you only use Boulder Community
Health facilities.
What if I have issues with the MyBCH app or the information inside?
Please contact our Health Information Management (HIM) department at
MyBCH@bch.org or call 303-415-7760, then press #3.
On Oct. 1, 2019, BCH replaced both of its current EHRs with the integrated
Epic system. We are excited about the system switch because Epic is widely
considered the best and most comprehensive EHR system available. In fact,
it’s become a new health care standard, upgrading patient care across
the country. Epic provides our doctors and nurses with the tools to work
and communicate more effectively, which helps provide you with a better
overall patient experience.
The majority of information available through the current portal will be
available to you through the new MyBCH patient portal. However, some elements
of your records, such as the complete history of visits, messages to your
care team and notes from your clinic visits, will not be available. The
previous portal was shut down in October 2019.
Your complete medical records can always be obtained by contacting BCH
Health Information Management at 303-415-7760.
Questions about MyBCH
If you have problems, questions or concerns about your account or anything
related to MyBCH, please contact the Health Information Management (HIM)
department at MyBCH@bch.org or call 303-415-7760, then press #3.
