I wanted to share my experience with you about BCH mammography in hopes of encouraging each of you to be proactive about your health and get your mammograms every year. Early detection is key for our survival and I would like to share my story with you to prove it!

January 12, 2023, I went in for a routine mammogram where Halee discovered I had two masses in my right breast. It was a Friday afternoon and I called Halee in a panic needing an ultrasound ASAP. She managed to get me in on Monday for the ultrasound and took time to console and comfort me as she navigated the machine and gathered information. Dr. Evans then squeezed me in BETWEEN her scheduled appointments so that we could get a biopsy that Wednesday. These women are incredible and went above and beyond to give me excellent care so fast!

Dr. Evans was supportive and talked me through the process and answered my "pop quiz" of a million questions and "what ifs." She kept me calm along the way of discovering the facts...I had breast cancer. Halee gave me her direct line and made herself available for my questions and provided me with her professional advice and guidance and treated me like a friend.

At the end of February, I had a double mastectomy where we realized just how much each mass had grown in such a short amount of time.

These women jumped to help me, and their swiftness and efficiency in my care was the reason I was able to move my process along so quickly and avoid a more intensive and invasive treatment program in the end. I am forever grateful for mammography because it saved my life. I never would have felt these masses, and I am here to tell you, get your mammograms and let's save lives!
