Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

BCH now offers Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSK), which is a safe, painless and noninvasive imaging procedure used by radiologists to view real-time images of muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and cartilage throughout the body. This procedure is currently available at Foothills Hospital's Imaging Department.

Advantages of MSK include:

  • Can be used when MRI is contraindicated.
  • Allows for dynamic evaluation in real-time of motion-induced symptoms.
  • Facilitates bilateral comparison to determine if asymmetry or an abnormality is present.
  • More cost effective than other diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Prior authorization is rarely needed.
