For about 20 years, I have been watching the slow degradation of my mitral valve. Finally, the regurgitation became severe and so I decided to have it repaired. I met with my cardiologist, Dr. Iyengar and then Dr. O'Hare, the surgeon who would be performing my robotic valve repair. Both gave me confidence and peace of mind since both have extensive experience dealing with my exact issues. They also were extremely nice people to deal with. In addition to the doctors, I had the chance to interact with many people in both the cardiac surgery unit (PAs Anna & Tim, and the wonderful Dr Mahan), as well as those in the main hospital as I recovered. My surgery went flawlessly, and my recovery proceeded surprisingly quickly. I had one complication post-surgery in the hospital, but that was handled well. I had no real pain within a week of the surgery and I was able to do pretty much all the activities of daily living at home quickly. The entire team works really well together, showing professionalism and great skill, and also the personal warmth and connection that I really appreciated. I'm super grateful that we have such an amazing group in Boulder.
