The Fleagle Family is establishing this fund in Katie’s memory because
Katie strongly believed in purpose and compassion, which is a daily part
of nursing. Katie was a recipient of the DAISY Award from St. Mary’s
& St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Chicago in recognition of her
mentorship, compassion, and empathy in patient care. She graduated with
a master's degree in nursing from DePaul University in Chicago in 2011.
Since 2016, Katie worked as an oncology nurse at University Hospital on
the Anschutz campus of the University of Colorado.
Katie knew that not everyone can manage the costs of education.The Katie
Fleagle Nurse Education Fund has been established to assist BCH nurses
and aspiring nurses to defray the costs of advancing their education in
the nursing profession.
