Bare Basics of Childbirth
Boulder Community Health’s highest priority is to ensure we do everything
within our control to maintain the safety of our patients, staff and the
overall community. This requires us to take every opportunity to contain,
control and reduce the impact of the COVID-19 virus. According to the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), limiting public gatherings
is a very effective tool for slowing the spread of COVID-19.
We are following that CDC recommendation and cancelling all public gatherings
intended for community members. This is effective immediately and includes
all Childbirth and Parenting Classes, Tours and Support Groups.
We recognize that activities like community education programs and support
groups are highly valued by community members and the BCH staff who provide
those services. Accordingly, we have started a taskforce that is working
to identify alternative ways of providing such activities. The Family
Birth Center Plan is to offer E-Classes. You will be contacted with a
link to register for the e-class or you may request a refund.
Thank you for supporting this effort to safeguard our community. I also
encourage you to visit the homepage of our website,
www.bch.org, for regular updates about COVID-19.
Bare Basic of Childbirth is a one-day intensive class that gives first-time
parents (or parents who want a refresher) valuable tools and evidence-based
information to prepare for your birth. Our instructor, Sutay Berman, a
specially trained registered nurse and doula, will cover the normal physical
and emotional experiences of late-stage pregnancy, labor, and birth including:
possible medical interventions, cesarean birth, anesthesia and epidurals,
natural options for coping with labor, and tips for caring for yourself
and your newborn at home. A Family Birth Center tour is included.
We recommend that you also take Capable, Confident and Coping: Labor Techniques
that Work. This class will help you practice labor techniques.
This is a long class, please bring a lunch and snacks as you wish. There
are limited cafateria options available but there will be time to go to
one of the many close by restaurants.
Fee: $100 per couple
