BCH Lecture: Advanced Treatment for Chronic Heartburn 8/3/21
- Category: Gastroenterology

While most of us have occasional bouts of heartburn, more than 15 million Americans suffer from chronic heartburn or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Left untreated, GERD can lead to serious health problems—chronic cough, asthma and even esophageal cancer. GERD can often be controlled with prescription medication. But if medications don’t help, or you wish to avoid long-term medication use, minimally invasive surgery can provide symptom relief.
Hear board-certified general surgeon Justin Richardson, MD, describe surgical options for relieving the symptoms of GERD, including minimally invasive robotic-assisted surgery.
