A Transformational Gift for the Future of the BCH Family Birth Center

Introducing the Mama Dee Family Birth Center at BCH

For nearly 25 years, Boulder Community Health's Family Birth Center has welcomed thousands of babies and supported families through some of life's most meaningful moments. Now, BCH is preparing to transform the center so it can continue providing exceptional maternity care in a warm, modern environment designed for the needs of patients, families, and care teams for generations to come. We are honored to share that longtime BCH volunteer, leader, and champion Dee Perry has made an extraordinary legacy gift in support of this vision. Her gift includes both the naming of the future center and the establishment of an endowment that will support BCH well into the future. In recognition of her generosity and lifelong connection to BCH, the renovated center will open in 2027 as the Mama Dee Family Birth Center at Boulder Community Health.

A Lifelong Connection to BCH

For Dee, this gift is deeply personal. She was born at BCH, welcomed both of her children here, and began volunteering at the hospital as a teenager. Over the past two decades, she has served in leadership roles on both the BCH Foundation Board of Trustees and the BCH Board of Directors, including as chair of each. She also stepped in as interim president of the Foundation when her leadership was needed most. Her commitment to BCH is matched by a lifetime of service to Boulder and the broader community.

The name "Mama Dee" has long been an affectionate nickname used by her children's friends and has taken on even greater meaning with the recent arrival of her first granddaughter. It is a fitting tribute in a place dedicated to welcoming new generations of families into the world.

For nearly 25 years, the Family Birth Center has proudly carried the name of Virginia Patterson, whose leadership, generosity, and deep love for Boulder helped shape both BCH and our community. As the center's name transitions, Virginia's remarkable legacy will continue to be honored in a prominent location adjacent to the Family Birth Center, preserving her story and enduring connection to the generations of families cared for at BCH.

Virginia set a high bar for community service, and Dee carries that same spirit forward. This gift represents more than support for a renovation. It is an investment in the future of local healthcare and an enduring expression of love for BCH and the community we serve. We are deeply grateful to Dee Perry for her vision, generosity, and commitment to ensuring exceptional maternity care for families for generations to come.

How to Get Involved

• Give any amount: A gift of $10, $25, $100 or any amount meaningful to you makes you part of this community effort.
• Be recognized on the donor wall: Gifts of $1,000 or more will receive permanent recognition in the Family Birth Center.
• Dedicate a leaf on the Tree of Life: With a gift of $2,500 to $10,000, you may engrave a leaf in honor of a family member, child, care provider or someone special to your family.
• Create a Lasting Legacy: With a gift of $25,000 or more, you may have the opportunity to name a special space and create a meaningful legacy.
