A legacy of leadership: Honoring Trustees who shape our community

At the Boulder Community Health (BCH) Foundation, we are proud to celebrate individuals whose leadership, vision and service continue to shape our community for the better. This year, three remarkable current and former Board of Trustees members — Dee Perry, Suzanne Hoover and Tom Kissinger — have been recognized with prestigious honors for their lifelong contributions in business, philanthropy, education and health care. Their stories are a testament to the power of giving back and leading with purpose.

We are thrilled to congratulate Dee Perry on her induction into the 2025 Boulder County Business Hall of Fame, a well-deserved recognition of her extraordinary career in both corporate finance and philanthropic leadership.

With professional roots at iconic companies like Celestial Seasonings and McDATA, Dee’s business acumen helped propel major organizations forward. But her true legacy lies beyond boardrooms. As a mentor, advocate and passionate supporter of education, health care and women’s leadership, Dee has dedicated her time and talents to causes that uplift the community and foster inclusive growth.

Her integrity, insight and unwavering commitment to service continue to inspire those around her. Congratulations, Dee!

As part of the Boulder Chamber’s 120th anniversary and the 30th year of the Women Who Light the Community awards, a new category was introduced in 2025: the Legacy of Impact Award, honoring women whose collective leadership and compassion have made lasting change. We are proud to celebrate Suzanne Hoover as one of its first recipients.

Suzanne’s passion for service began early, growing up in a small Midwestern town where supporting neighbors was simply a way of life. After earning degrees from DePauw University and Indiana University, Suzanne began her career as an educator before dedicating herself to family and a lifetime of nonprofit service.

From her work with the scholarship-raising organization Tri Kappa, to serving on the Muncie Community Schools Board, and her decades of nonprofit board involvement, Suzanne has focused her efforts, alongside her husband David, on strengthening education and health care systems locally and beyond.

Her lifelong dedication, steady leadership and quiet generosity have left an indelible impact. Congratulations, Suzanne!

We are also proud to honor Tom Kissinger, this year’s recipient of the Stan Black Award, presented by Community Foundation Boulder County in partnership with Hutchinson Black and Cook. Established in 1998, the award recognizes individuals who, like the late Stan Black, have demonstrated a lifetime of service through their time, treasure and talent.

Tom’s contributions are perhaps most visible through his leadership with Ignite Adaptive Sports, where he played a foundational role in its growth and long-term success. Tom spearheaded major fundraising, invested thousands of volunteer hours, and led efforts to secure a permanent facility, ensuring that people of all abilities have access to outdoor recreation, support and connection.

Tom’s unwavering dedication has made a profound difference in Boulder County and beyond. His work truly embodies the spirit of the Stan Black Award. Congratulations, Tom!

The 2025 honorees remind us that lasting change happens when individuals lead with purpose, compassion and a deep commitment to others. We are grateful for the countless ways Dee, Suzanne and Tom have enriched our community and we look forward to seeing the continued impact of their incredible work.
