BCH Foundation Sponsors Farm to Table Experience, Partners with Boulder County Farmers Markets

Last week, the Boulder Community Health (BCH) team received a very special delivery from Boulder County Farmers Markets (BCFM).

Each summer, our employees look forward to the BCH Foundation’s in-person Farm to Table celebration. Due to the pandemic, we were not able to hold this favorite staff event – sponsored by the BCH Foundation – in its traditional form this year.

The modified occasion didn’t disappoint, however. Pre-assembled bags of produce, put together by the Boulder County Farmers Markets, lined the courtyard area at Foothills Hospital, so that staff could quickly grab their bags and return to work or head to lunch.

Bags were filled with a variety of locally-grown produce, including tomatoes, beets, corn, peppers, carrots, eggplant, zucchini, cucumbers, apples and nectarines. The local veggies were from: First Fruits Organic Farms, Full Circle Farms, Honeyacre Enterprises, Hoffman Farms, Rancho Duranzo, Reg Wagon and Rocky Mountain Fresh – as close as six miles away and as far as 242 miles away.

Cards, designed by BCFM staff members, with veggie-themed puns, like “You’re one in a melon,” were also included in the bags. Special thank you to the community members who visited the farmers markets in Boulder, Longmont and Denver and wrote the personalized messages inside the cards.

This Farm to Table experience annually serves as a reminder to the BCH team about the Foundation’s Employee Giving Campaign. Last year, nearly $80,000 was contributed by BCH employees through employee giving. These funds were a crucial part of the Foundation’s support of multiple programs and initiatives that directly impacted BCH and the community.

The Foundation’s Employee Giving Campaign

Staff and physician wellness is one of the Foundation’s core beliefs, along with health equity, patient care, community collaboration and behavioral health. These core beliefs both inform and inspire the actions of the BCH Foundation, in their partnership with BCH.

The Foundation is celebrating over 40 years of community impact to support BCH’s vision of creating and caring for the healthiest community in the nation. The generosity of the community has led to more than $60 million raised in support of BCH. On average, the Foundation has granted $3.1 million annually in support of various capital and programmatic priorities.

How to Get Involved

In addition to the Employee Giving Campaign, community members can get involved through one-time gifts.

This year, we are counting on past and first-time participants to increase engagement in this extremely important annual campaign. For information on ways to give or to make a donation, click here
