Ivan Hiew, FNP

About

Ivan graduated from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts and his Master of Science in Nursing from Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts.

Prior to joining the Gunbarrel Family team, where he provides primary and acute care, he trained as Nurse Practitioner in Denver, Colorado caring for a diverse population by providing primary care, urgent care, gynecological procedures, and sports medicine. Before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Ivan worked as an emergency nurse in a Level 2 trauma center, which gave him considerable insight in the management of critical conditions. He also has experience as an outpatient dialysis nurse and inpatient psychiatric nurse specializing in dual diagnosis and forensic mental health.

When not working with patients, Ivan can be found in the gym training for competitive powerlifting competitions and amateur boxing events. He also enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, their three goats and three cats. Together they both spend time exploring and hiking Colorado’s trails. When Ivan needs a little time to himself, he will lose himself in a sci-fi novel or hop on his computer for a bit of gaming.

Philosophy of Care

Ivan’s strives to provide patient-centered, personalized healthcare for all of his patients. He intentionally builds strong relationships with his patients to ensure that shared decision-making is always a part of the patient’s healthcare journey and with this he ensures their preferences are respected. Each patient is unique, as is each plan that he and his patients create together. As a part of his commitment to his patients, Ivan is stays abreast of the latest medical knowledge and research to ensure his patients have all the information available when making decisions.
