Honoring our incredible care teams during Nurses Week and Health Care Week

Boulder Community Health is celebrating Health Care Week (May 10–16) and Nurses Week (May 6-12) with a theme of "Mindful Practice Fosters Growth." We are honored to celebrate our incredible workforce this week and highlight several of their achievements that improve care processes, quality, and patient experience.

Nurses Week

This year’s national theme—“The Power of Nurses”—is further expressed through BCH’s theme of “Mindful Practice Fosters Growth.” These themes focus on how intentional care creates opportunities to build a better future, through the power of nurses. Our nurses’ everyday actions of healing and hope and pursuit of practice improvements carry the potential to shape our community’s health and future.

In demonstration of practice improvements, key achievements from our BCH nursing teams in the past year include the Nursing Practice Council's new Professional Practice Model, a 95% compliance rate in patient mobility assessments, and the first-year success of the Vascular Access Team, which moved 82% of line placements to the bedside.

A new Professional Practice Model

Boulder Community Health’s (BCH) Nursing Professional Practice Model (PPM) is a Caring Science based initiative that drives patient-centered, evidence-based care across all BCH nursing teams from ambulatory to procedural to inpatient.

The foundational core values of the PPM are compassion, collaboration, and inclusivity. Every individual—patient, family, and team member—is valued and respected with dignity central to all interactions. With this model, we foster trust and support amongst all patients, families and caregivers at BCH.

With the PPM, care is tailored to the unique needs, preferences, and well-being of each person and the broader community. Advocacy empowers individuals to make informed decisions, ensuring their voices are heard in the care process.

Together, the components of the PPM guide daily practice, ensuring high-quality, holistic care that honors the inherent worth of every person.

Celebrating ALL our teams during BCH Health Care Week

This year we are also celebrating all teams across our organization for National Hospital Week, with a full week of events and opportunities for our care staff to connect. This year’s theme is “Healing Happens Here”—celebrates the efforts of our entire care team to foster community health.

It is our honor to care for this community, and we thank you for the trust you put in us to provide health care for you an your families in Boulder County. Please join us in recognizing the incredible and meaningful work our teams do to provide the best possible care for all.
