The Birth Center of Boulder will soon come under new ownership

The Birth Center of Boulder (BCoB), Boulder Community Health’s midwifery-led, freestanding birth center, will come under new ownership with a new name -- Boulder Birth and Holistic Health, LLC (BBHH) -- effective Oct. 1, 2023.

As a valued choice in our community for low-intervention pregnancy care and out-of-hospital births, BBHH will continue BCoB’s legacy of providing a range of midwifery-led prenatal and birth options as well as gynecologic and preventative well-person care. The new name embodies the intention to expand services even further to meet more needs of our community.

For pregnant people and families who started care with BCoB before Oct. 1, 2023, your coverage will continue uninterrupted for the remainder of your pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

Abrie Koupal, MSN, CNM, one of the owners of BBHH, explained, “Existing clients will notice little change. It will be the same wonderful place and care model as before, but with more comprehensive services. We want BBHH to be a lot more inclusive, beyond just birth, and provide holistic care for families throughout their lifetime.”

Abrie joined BCOB’s staff in 2016, now serving as BCOB’s clinical director, and has helped hundreds of babies come into the world with minimal-to-no medical intervention. She is passionate about safeguarding birth choice and further expanding this one-of-a-kind care model in our community for many years to come. Abrie believes that, with community support, BBHH will thrive.

Amanda Boni is the co-owner of BBHH, and now serves as its clinic manager. Since joining BCOB’s administrative team in 2018, she has been dedicated to learning everything about managing a birth center, including the clinical, administrative, operational, medical billing and payor relations considerations.
