For the entire BCH team, one of the bright lights throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has been the steadfast support of the Boulder Valley community. Long-time community members Amy Batchelor and Brad Feld of the Anchor Point Foundation have been exceptional supporters of the staff and medical providers who have worked bravely during these extraordinary circumstances to serve the community with the highest quality care.

We are excited to announce that the Anchor Point Foundation donated $2 million to the BCH Foundation in support of initiatives that address all areas of physician and staff wellness — mental, emotional, spiritual and physical. By approaching wellness holistically, we aim to reduce the risk of caregiver burnout, improve staff retention and foster the resilience needed to continue providing the best possible patient care.

The significant investment will fund expanded system-wide wellness resources and programs, both in-person and virtually, focused on building a broad array of skills that allow physicians and staff to thrive and be their best selves in both their personal and professional lives by gaining the self-care tools necessary to tackle even the most challenging days.

We know that by prioritizing the health and wellness of our team of physicians, nurses and support staff, they will be able to better care for our patients. We also believe that proactively equipping them with the support, training and resources needed for mental, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being will sustain our ability to provide transformative care and fulfill our vision of creating and caring for the healthiest community in the nation.

New Anchor Point Primary Care clinic

In recognition of the Anchor Point Foundation’s philanthropic support and all that Batchelor and Feld have done to invest in the future of health care in our community, we are announcing a new BCH primary care clinic — opening in fall 2022 at the former Alfalfa’s building on Broadway in downtown Boulder — will be named the Anchor Point Primary Care.

One of four future tenants of the now vacant building, this new location marks BCH’s return to Broadway, where our community health system started 100 years ago. The Anchor Point Clinic will consolidate two of BCH’s Boulder-based primary care practices under one roof: Spruce Street Internal Medicine and Dakota Ridge Family Medicine. Both clinics have deep roots in the Boulder community that stretch back three decades, with hard-won and long reputations for excellent, patient-centered primary care. The practices have grown and demand more space needed to continue providing excellent patient experiences.

In closing, we want to reiterate our commitment to building a robust culture of wellness for all our team members who, as part of the broader Boulder community, are not separate from the very traumas and challenges they manage for others. The new Anchor Point Foundation donation will help us truly fulfill our vision of creating and caring for the healthiest community in the nation.
