Helping People in Our Community Age Well

Boulder County Area Agency on Aging’s (BCAAA) Healthy Aging Programs group provides older adults and caregivers with programs that can help prevent and manage conditions as well as empower older adults with Medicare information and education. We offer our classes and guidance virtually and if needed, by phone. We address chronic diseases, falls prevention, nutrition counseling, diabetes prevention and health coverage choices in English and Spanish.

Falls Prevention Week September 21- 25.

While things may different this year, we at the BCAAA will still be offering a variety of opportunities to learn how Boulder County residents can reduce their risk of falling. You’ll be able to follow along with step-by-step instructions for getting down and up from the floor in both English and Spanish, participate in a virtual Tai Chi class, attend a virtual lecture on Hearing Loss and Balance, watch a demo of home safety and assistive devices and much more. Spanish sessions are also available. The full schedule of events will be available in mid-September. Please visit for more information and details.

Boulder Community Health is a proud partner of the BCAAA and its Falls Prevention program. With Falls Prevention Week happening in September, it’s important for older individuals in our community to understand how they can prevent and reduce the chances of falls.

A few tips to help you prevent a fall include:

  • Staying physically active
  • Review medications
  • Have vision and hearing tested
  • Keep your home safe
  • Get enough sleep
  • Stand up slowly
  • Limit alcohol intake

Learn about these tips and more with the BCAAA Fall Prevention program.
