Sonika Momin, MD

About

Sonika Momin, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician. A native of Austin, TX, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology from University of Texas, Austin, TX, and her medical degree from University of Texas Medical Center in Dallas, TX. She then completed her family medicine residency and did an additional year in advanced rural medical surgical fellowship at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, TX.

Prior to joining BCH, Dr. Momin worked at Austin Regional Clinic as a primary care physician, providing a combination of primary care and urgent care services for the population of Austin. She also holds a passion for global health and humanitarian work. Internationally, she has worked in various roles in Kenya at Aga Khan Hospital in Mombasa, Uganda at Bwindi Community Hospital and T’Chad, Africa, at Bere Adventist Hospital. She speaks several languages, including Hindi, Urdu and Gujarati.

One of the aspects that Dr. Momin enjoys most about her work is the relationships that she forms with her patients. She takes her doctor-patient responsibility seriously and continuously works to learn new approaches to improve the care she provides for her patients.

Dr. Momin enjoys astrophysics and doing math problems for fun! She finds it therapeutic. She also loves the outdoors and traveling. Though she can’t swim, this does not stop her from wanting to try out all the water sports at least once in her life—including kite surfing, sailing and wakeboarding. She owns a kayak and paddleboard that she uses frequently. And, of course, Dr. Momin loves spending her free time with her fur-baby, Charlie.
