Kelly J. Cushing, DO

About

Dr. Cushing grew up in the Midwest and developed a love for travel while adventuring around the country in the family van. She earned a BA in Psychology at the University of Colorado Boulder. After traveling abroad in Asia, followed by a stint as a professional ski patroller, she opted to contribute to the world as a physician. She went to medical school at Kansas City University of Osteopathic Medicine and Biosciences.

Kelly completed a Family Medicine residency at the University of Washington Rural Training Track in Boise, Idaho. She then practiced broad spectrum rural medicine, including surgical obstetrics, at a migrant farm clinic in Oregon to fulfill her service commitment as a National Health Service Corps scholar. She continues to hone her Spanish skills.

Due to a need in her community, Dr. Cushing started a Medication for Addiction Treatment program at a community health center in Oregon. She has maintained a dedication to Addiction Medicine and serving the underserved throughout her career. She has been a hospitalist since 2013 and is double board certified in Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine. She continues to enjoy her hospitalist work and serves as the Medical Director for the BCH Substance Use Disorder Program.

In her spare time, Kelly enjoys all that Colorado has to offer, including skiing, biking, gardening and spending time in nature.
