About

Even before he became a physician, Dr. Brian S. Lyle was dedicated to saving lives.

After graduating from Boston University in 1991, he moved to Colorado to indulge his love for the mountains. He became an EMT, joined Vail Mountain Rescue, and had the privilege of being a medical team member on the 1995 Mount Everest Commemorative Expedition, which traced George Mallory's 1924 expedition. Inspired by working closely with a Vail cardiologist, he decided to return to medical school focusing on cardiology.

Now an experienced cardiologist who is board certified in cardiovascular medicine, nuclear medicine and internal medicine, Dr. Lyle has an impressive academic background. After earning his M.D. and winning two prestigious awards at MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia, he completed his residency at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire. As chief cardiology fellow, he chose to go work with a well-known cardiologist at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut, doing research and publishing a protocol on aspirin desensitization for patients who are allergic to aspirin.

In 2008, Dr. Lyle moved back to Boulder to joined Rocky Mountain Cardiology. He then served as a member of the Cardiology Institute at Banner Health in Loveland, CO. Prior to joining Boulder Heart in 2018, Dr. Lyle cared for patients in the Boulder-area community at Boulder Medical Center.

Dr. Lyle has a particular interest in preventive cardiology to help patients avoid chronic heart conditions and improve quality of life. An avid climber and athlete, he enjoys caring for fellow athletes along with his many other patients.

Dr. Lyle and his wife, Catherine, share two wonderful daughters, Carson and Delia, who are both passionate about school, skiing competitively, horseback riding, and the family's yellow Lab (Blu) and guinea pig (Norman).
