As part of its commitment to embracing innovation and adopting advanced
technology, Boulder Community Health has selected Epic, the most widely-used
and comprehensive health record software in the U.S., to connect its multiple
facilities and create a single, shared record for each patient.
"Boulder Community Health’s vision is partnering to create and
care for the healthiest community in the nation,” said Michael Jefferies,
BCH Vice President and Chief Information Officer.
“Epic is the optimal partner to help us implement a single enterprise
solution that will improve our ability to provide the top quality and
personalized care our community deserves and expects. Epic will also provide
a much more convenient experience for patients across our system. At the
same time, it will give our physicians and other clinicians dependable
tools that make it easier to practice medicine,” Jefferies said.
Epic is used by a majority of U.S. News and World Report’s top-ranked
hospitals and medical schools who are working collaboratively every day
to improve patient care, innovate health care delivery and achieve financial health.
Currently, BCH’s hospitals and physician clinics use two different
electronic systems. While both systems are secure and have served their
purpose well, the Epic platform will improve the care experience across
the entire system by providing a single, comprehensive health record for
each person. Physicians and clinicians across BCH will benefit from a
shared patient record to facilitate deeper integration, including improved
sharing of information with other caregivers to improve patient safety
and outcomes.
Epic is the leader in interoperability, which means that providers can
easily exchange patient data for greatly improved patient care. Caregivers
at BCH will be able to share information with other health care organizations,
regardless of where those organizations are located or which system they use.
Patients will benefit from unparalleled digital access to their records
through the popular MyChart online portal and mobile app. BCH patients
will be able to review documentation and test results and securely contact
their medical providers with questions or concerns from their PC or mobile
devices. MyChart will also provide patients access to many other helpful
tools, including online scheduling, e-visits, and simplified online bill pay.
