'Walk with a Doc' Highlights Type 2 Diabetes and Heart Disease for Heart Health Month

People Walking on Track

On February 9th, BCH's 'Walk with a Doc' program offered walkers a unique opportunity to get out of the cold and onto the indoor track at the CU Athletics Indoor Practice Facility. The indoor track boasts the fastest women's mile ever run in the the state of Colorado after CU runner Dani Jones clocked a mile time of 4:36:05 on it earlier this month.

Participants enjoyed a presentation by special guest speaker, BCH cardiologist Dr. Molly Ware, on Type 2 Diabetes and Heart Disease followed by the opportunity to walk and talk with Dr. Ware and our 'Walk with a Doc' lead physician, cardiologist Dr. Nelson Trujillo. Dr. Ware advised at least 30 minutes of moderate activity MOST days of the week and suggested walking as a great way to achieve that goal.

Guests were also treated to a special appearance from CU Buffs football player, outside linebacker Sam Bennion!

Join us for our next walk featuring a talk on "Happiness and the Heart" on March 10 at Harlow Platts Park (1360 Gillaspie Drive) in Boulder with Dr. Jignesh Shah.
