BCH lecture: Preventing and treating osteoporosis 1/22/24

  • Category: Primary Care

Osteoporosis — a bone-thinning disease — is a major health threat for millions of Americans. In fact, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men over age 50 will break a bone because of osteoporosis. These breaks can be devastating and lead to chronic pain, loss of independence and, in some cases, death. Fortunately, treatments are available to prevent and manage osteoporosis.

Hear board-certified endocrinologist Farrah Anwar, MD, describe preventive treatments that can help maintain or increase your bone density. She’ll then discuss therapies that can slow further bone loss or increase bone density if you’ve already been diagnosed with osteoporosis.
