Boulder Community Health is embarking on a sweeping reorganization of its
extensive
rehabilitation programs that will maintain all services while improving access, expanding expertise
and upgrading facilities.
BCH is partnering with UCHealth and Children’s Hospital Colorado
to create a regional network of rehabilitation services.
“Boulder Community Health’s vision is to thoughtfully develop
partnerships that help us create and care for the healthiest community
in the country,” said Dr. Robert Vissers, BCH President/Chief Executive
Officer. “Combining resources with Children’s Colorado and
UCHealth allows us to collectively provide more patients with access to
a comprehensive range of top quality rehab services.”
Outpatient Adult Rehabilitation
BCH’s
Outpatient Adult Rehabilitation program has relocated to the newly renovated facilities at the BCH Community
Medical Center in Lafayette in spring 2019. This program will continue
to provide adults with comprehensive therapy services that treat a wide
variety of physical, cognitive and emotional challenges. Services will
include physical, occupational, speech and hand therapies. BCH will independently
operate this program.
Inpatient Rehabilitation
As previously announced, BCH is partnered with UCHealth to open an 18-bed
inpatient rehabilitation unit at
UCHealth Broomfield Hospital. The new inpatient rehabilitation unit is on the third floor of that hospital
and combines the expertise of staff and specialists from both BCH and
UCHealth. This state-of-the-art unit provides interdisciplinary therapy
services to help restore strength, function and independence for patients
recovering from serious injuries or illness.
Outpatient Pediatric Rehabilitation
BCH’s Outpatient Pediatric Rehabilitation program has relocated to the
BCH Erie Medical Center (pictured above) and will continue to offer its evaluation and extensive
therapy services. In addition, BCH is expanding its care alliance with
Children’s Hospital Colorado to provide local patients with additional access to the extensive services
provided at the Children’s Colorado Therapy Care Center in Broomfield.
“Children’s Colorado is one of the nation’s top 10 children’s
hospitals and a tremendous resource for pediatric care,” said Dr.
Vissers. “We’ve had a long and successful partnership with
Children’s Colorado to jointly care for patients in the Intensive
Care Nursery at Foothills Hospital. In March of last year, we formed a
care alliance to improve the coordination of services across our respective
organizations. We’re now expanding that care alliance to make it
easier and faster for local families to get optimal care.”
BCH will share information with patients in all three rehab programs throughout
this transition.
