Meet our Team

Neurosurgical Treatments

With 80 years of combined experience, our neurosurgeons are experts in the most advanced surgical procedures to treat complex conditions, including:

  • Spine problems
  • Brain and spinal tumors
  • Cerebral aneurysms
  • Peripheral nerve disorders
  • Seizure disorders
  • Essential tremors
  • Aneurysms and other cranial problems
  • Back pain
  • Parkinson’s Disease

BCH neurosurgeons have set an impressive standard for offering our community the most advanced treatments. We were the first in Colorado to introduce:

  • MR-guided focused ultrasound: A new, incisionless treatment for involuntary tremors.
  • CyberKnife: This minimally invasive, incredibly accurate radiosurgery technology provides precise treatment of tumors anywhere in the body with lower radiation doses.
  • Intraoperative MRI: This state-of-the-art technology allows neurosurgeons to view tumors in real-time during surgery.
  • Minimally invasive endovascular neurosurgery: These types of procedures offer a less-invasive advanced procedures for treating strokes, aneurysms and brain tumors

Other Advanced Treatments

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)

This minimally invasive, targeted surgical procedure is primarily used to treat Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor or seizure disorders.

Brain and spinal tumor treatments

Our highly experienced surgeons perform more than 1,300 procedures each year, using the latest techniques and technologies to treat a broad range of complex tumors. For instance, real-time MRI images in the operating suite allow our neurosurgeons to more precisely target and treat tumors. Our physicians form a collaborative care team with your oncologist.

Spine care

Our surgeons use advanced techniques to treat a wide range of conditions including sciatica, spinal stenosis and other types of back and neck pain. We are highly experienced with minimally invasive procedures that involve smaller incisions, less muscle damage, decreased blood loss and shorter hospital stays following spine surgery.

Mazor X™ Stealth system

Boulder-area residents suffering from painful back conditions now have local access to an advanced surgical system that can make complex spine surgery safer and less painful.

Boulder Community Health (BCH) now offers the cutting-edge Mazor X™ Stealth robotic guidance system, which allows BCH spine surgeons to use a less-invasive approach to complex spine surgery. BCH’s Foothills Hospital is the first Colorado hospital north of Denver to offer this revolutionary technology.

Mazor X™ combines proprietary software to plan the surgical procedure, a robotic arm to precisely guide the placement of implants during complicated spine surgery, and real-time imaging feedback to ensure the procedure proceeds as planned. This higher degree of accuracy throughout the surgical procedure can provide better outcomes for patients compared to traditional spine surgery.

Additional advantages of Mazor X™’s minimally-invasive approach include:

  • Improved surgical accuracy
  • Smaller incisions
  • Less risk for complications
  • Less exposure to radiation
  • Less bleeding
  • Shorter hospital stays
  • Faster recovery

Boulder Neurosurgical and Spine Associates (BNA) surgeons will use Mazor X™ technology to treat adult patients with a variety of spinal conditions, ranging from degenerative disc disease to scoliosis.
