Dr. Nichols received his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa in 1985. He graduated from University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1980. He then performed his internship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center from 1989-1994. He was chief resident in 1994 at University of Nebraska Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in MRI at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1995.
After two years in private practice with Radiology Associates, P.A. in Little Rock, Arkansas, Dr. Nichols joined Boulder Radiologists, Inc. in 1997.
Dr. Nichols is board certified in diagnostic radiology and is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, the Colorado Radiological Society, the American Roentgen Society, and the Boulder Medical Society. He is actively involved in the Medical Staff at Boulder Community Health, including former Chief of Staff, and currently serves as the Chair of the Physician Health and Well-Being Committee.
Dr. Nichols’ areas of expertise include imagery of the injured athlete, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease, and oncology care. He enjoys providing state-of-the-art care to his patients in a safe and comfortable environment.
Dr Nichols has three wonderful children actively pursuing higher education in the Boulder area. His outdoor hobbies include cycling, skiing, and hiking. He, along with his good friend Kevin Mulshine, are the co-founders of the BStrong Ride, an annual cycling event supporting local cancer care, including the BCH Center for Integrative Care and the George Karl Foundation. www.bstrongride.com
