Health Equity

We believe that health is a fundamental human right so we seek to create and expand access to comprehensive treatment and care for our community.

The BCH Foundation supports BCH in investing in the unpredictable and varying needs, including funding for valuable preventative and overall treatment services that are not directly covered by insurance.

Examples of programs that the BCH Foundation supports within Health Equity include:

Breast Cancer Treatment Fund

The Breast Cancer Treatment Fund assists breast cancer patients undergoing treatment. Patients like Mercedes Alvarez: “They told us that the financial side of things should be the least of our considerations. We needed to worry about treating the cancer and not worry about what was going to happen to us financially because of the cancer,” says Greg Bowles, Mercedes’ husband.

KidLinks Pediatric Rehabilitation Fund

Summer camps have been offered through Pediatric Rehab at BCH since 1991. Camps allow children with special needs to participate in fun and motivational activities that facilitate their physical, social, sensory and language needs. Over the years, hundreds of children have experienced the joy and sense of accomplishment of going to camp. Your support of the KidLinks Pediatric Rehabilitation Fund also ensures scholarships for families based on financial need. Scholarship funds have ensured that all children have access to the necessary rehabilitation services.
