Amanda O Babcock, MD

About

Amanda Babcock, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician that holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine (CAQSM). She earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. Dr. Babcock then completed both her family medicine residency and sport medicine fellowship at the University of California San Diego (UCSD).

Passionate about and fellowship-trained in sports medicine, Dr. Babcock founded the sports medicine department at Family Health Centers of San Diego and has provided medical support for various athletic events. Her sports medicine experience includes working with the Tahoe Truckee Medical Group Ski Trauma Clinic, Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, as team physician at UCSD and for several high school and junior college football teams. She enjoys working with athletes of all ages and incorporates ultrasound to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal conditions.

Additionally, she has special interest in using exercise and diet as treatment and prevention for various health conditions, women’s health and contraception, and pediatrics.

Dr. Babcock is moderately fluent in Spanish and has participated in medical relief trips to Mexico, Costa Rica and Honduras.

In her free time. Dr. Babcock enjoys spending time with her two children and husband, practices yoga, rock climbs, skis and continues to study and learn Spanish at home and abroad.
