BCH Pillar Lecture: Rooting for Resilience

About This Event

  • Event Type:Lectures & Special Events
Details:

Join us for an evening of learning, discussion, and fun activity to highlight mental health and resilience! This event offers the opportunity for young people and adults to share virtual space and learn together. We’ll begin the evening with learning about some recently released research on Benevolent Childhood Experiences (BCEs) and how they can protect against Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), followed by time for discussion and questions. We’ll round out the evening with some time to tap into your creative side! We’ll go through a guided Tree of Life activity that will use a tree as a metaphor to create a tangible representation of your personal sources of resilience. Please encourage young people in your network to attend this family-friendly event!

Tree of Life (ToL), is a psychosocial support tool underpinned by narrative therapy. Originally developed to support vulnerable children in East and Southern Africa, ToL draws on the metaphor of a tree, taken from Zimbabwean folklore and collective narrative practice to support individuals, groups, and communities to overcome difficult life experiences.

This is a live, virtual event that will be broadcast in both English and Spanish! Arts & crafts kits to create your tree will be dropped off to you via contactless delivery to the address provided upon registering for the event. Space is limited so sign up today! Please register via the registration info below.

Speakers include:
