About This Event

VACCINATING KIDS CAN PREVENT THEM FROM DEVELOPING CANCER AS ADULTS.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infections are so common that nearly all men and women will get HPV at some point in their lives. Most HPV infections go away by themselves within a couple years. But sometimes, HPV infections last longer and can cause certain types of cancers: cervix, vagina, and vulva cancers in women; penis cancer in men; and, anus and throat cancers in both women and men.

Hear BCH nurse practitioners Nancy Engellenner, NP, and Paige Swales, CNM, describe the risks of HPV and ways it’s transmitted. Then learn why the HPV vaccine is important for your child’s health, and how it’s most effective when given in early adolescence.
