Safe Services

Thanks to You We’re Able to Safely Reopen

We are happy to announce that because of our community's compliance with public health and safety recommendations, we are able to reopen many of the services we offer at BCH. Please watch our video below of BCH president and CEO Dr. Robert Vissers explain how BCH is safely expanding the services you need to stay on top of your health.

Keeping You Safe

Safety remains our top priority in all patient care locations. We are taking specific actions to reduce the risk of COVID-19 exposure for patients and staff, including:

  • All patients entering any BCH patient care facility are required to wear a surgical or cloth mask. All BCH staff wear face masks
  • Limiting visitors
  • We are supporting social distancing through actions such as spacing chairs at least six feet apart
  • Routinely screening all staff for symptoms of COVID-19 and, if symptomatic, they are tested and quarantined
  • Following established protocols for enhanced cleaning and disinfection to improve safety prior to using spaces or facilities. Please read our blog on the details of our cleaning process.

BCH Safer Check-In Process

BCH has been taking a very cautious and thoughtful approach to re-opening access to more medical services. We’ve called on expertise from across our organization, always focusing on patient and staff safety first while weighing all the risks, including the potential consequences of not doing surgeries or seeing some patients in person.

As part of this transition, we have made important changes in the registration process for patients scheduled to have surgery, heart catheterization, Imaging scans and some other advanced procedures.

In order to maintain social distancing for patients and BCH staff, we now ask patients coming to our facilities for a scheduled service to stay in their cars and call us when they arrive for their appointment. A registration representative will call them to complete their check-in by phone. Patients will continue to wait in their car until we are ready to provide their service. At that point, a clinical representative will call to invite them inside the building.

Step 1: Call 303-415-8190 to let us know you are here. Please continue to wait in your car.

Step 2: A registration representative will call you to complete your check-in by phone. Please continue to wait in your car.

Step 3: A clinical representative will call to invite you inside the building and provide instruction on where to meet. Please note you will be screened upon entry to the building and will be required to wear a mask.

Step 4: Meet the clinical representative to begin your appointment.

This process applies to the following BCH building and departments:

  • Foothills Hospital: Surgery, Cardiology, Interventional Radiology, Lab, Mammography Services, General Imaging Services
  • Community Medical Center Imaging
  • Boulder Medical Center Imaging
  • Erie Medical Center Imaging & Lab

Patients will be screened upon entry to Foothills Hospital, Community Medical Center and Erie Medical Center, and will be required to wear a mask.

As another element of our social distancing strategy, we have moved to decentralized registration at Foothills Hospital. Patients now go to one of four areas to check-in, depending on the specific service they are having. We’ve installed new signs to direct patients to the appropriate locations.

These changes represent a very cautious approach that can help ensure our patients are able to have their necessary but less urgent procedures done at BCH as quickly as possible, with a high degree of safety.

BCH Virtual Visits

As we modify our clinic operations in response to the COVID-19 virus, we are committed to finding safe and convenient ways for you to continue to get the high-quality care you need, expect and deserve.

In addition to our traditional in-person clinic visits, we now offer the opportunity to have a video or phone visit with your physician, as well as an E-Visit for those who don't need to speak directly with their care provider.

Adding these new options are necessary actions that safeguard the health of our patients, staff and community. BCH offers these new appointment types:

  • Video and Phone Visit
  • E-Visit
