Inpatient Rehabilitation

Broomfield hospital Boulder Community Health and UCHealth officially opened a joint 18-bed inpatient rehabilitation department inside the UCHealth Broomfield Hospital on July 1, 2019. This partnership offers patients a state-of-the-art unit with interdisciplinary therapy services to help restore strength, function and independence for those recovering from serious injuries or illness.

The inpatient rehabilitation program includes care pathways and specialized programs for brain injury, stroke and spinal cord injury. Our therapists specialize in providing treatment for patients who need acute inpatient rehabilitation. Several of our therapists have advanced certifications in areas such as brain injury, stroke, vision and neurological disorders.

Services Provided

Our treatment approach and program details are entirely focused on personalized and individual care. We provide daily patient-focused meetings for individualized scheduling and treatment planning. Our facility features 18 beds, all in private rooms, with available individual and private treatment spaces as needed. We offer therapy seven days a week, which exceeds the requirement of five days a week.

The inpatient rehabilitation department offers the following services:

  • Caregiver and family member training, education and guidance
  • Individualized treatment to improve independence in daily activities
  • Management of bowel and bladder
  • Medical management
  • Occupational therapy
  • Physical therapy
  • Speech-language, cognitive and swallowing evaluations and treatment
  • Transitional support for discharge
  • Wound care

Our Multidisciplinary Team

The rehab team is led by physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians who are experts in brain injury, spinal cord injuries and other impairments requiring an intensive rehabilitation program for maximum recovery. The provider team also includes a nurse practitioner experienced in rehabilitation.

Additionally, over 50% of registered nurses have specialty certifications including the nationally recognized CRRN (Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse). According to the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN), these certifications help validate their professional standing as an experienced rehabilitation nurse with a documented level of knowledge and a commitment to patient care.

  • Board-certified specialist in neurologic physical therapy

  • Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) certification
