BCH a Proud Sponsor of Boulder Pridefest 2018

Boulder Community Health is delighted to be a sponsor of this year’s Boulder Pridefest, presented by Out Boulder County. The event, which runs from Tuesday, Sept. 4 through Sunday, Sept. 9., is a celebration of the LGBTQ community and a place where everyone can come to support, embrace, and further a sense of equality and acceptance in the greater Boulder community.

Boulder Pridefest offers nearly a week’s worth of events throughout Boulder County starting with a screening of the film “To a More Perfect Union,” at the Dairy Arts Center Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. and culminating with the LGBTQ Visibility March on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 10:30 a.m., to be followed by a number of events throughout the day at Boulder Central Park.

Boulder Community Health’s mission is “to provide our community with the highest value healthcare in an innovative, patient-centric environment.” This includes providing an inclusive environment for LGBTQ patients and staff to thrive and receive the care they need to live their best lives.

During the event, BCH staff intend to provide people with general health information for their well-being, as well as offer CPR basics and a little class on “stop the bleed,” which is a program that trains people without medical backgrounds to respond during a bleeding emergency. Our booths will also be offering giveaways and even Urban Zen energy work—on a first come, first served basis—so festival-goers can enjoy a little Reiki and aromatherapy.

BCH is currently in the process of obtaining certification from the Human Rights Campaign to their Healthcare Equality Index, which is the “national LGBTQ benchmark tool that evaluates healthcare facilities' policies and practices related to the equity and inclusion of their LGBTQ patients, visitors and employees.” BCH is using the HEI application as a guide toward raising awareness, changing practices, and being more open, affirming and welcoming to the LGBTQ community.
