More than 130 walkers joined us for another incredible `Walk with a Doc’
this past Saturday at Tom Watson Park with a loop around Coot Lake. Cardiologist
Dr. Nelson Trujillo of
Boulder Heart and orthopedic and family medicine physician
Dr. Sherrie Ballantine-Talmadge of
CU Sports Medicine and Performance Center shared easy ways to weave healthy exercise into your busy days.
Here’s one: Research shows that if you can’t fit in a one-hour
walk, walking 10 to 15 minutes three to four times a day provides comparable
health benefits. Yes, we CAN do it!
Another very special guest, a rubber duck named Pattie Pato, also joined
us at the Walk. Along with other BCH is sponsoring Pattie as a participant
in Boulder’s
30th Annual Great Rubber Duck Race this Labor Day (Monday, September 3), part of the
Boulder Creek Hometown Festival. The
PLAY Boulder Foundation hosts this annual fundraiser that supports access, environmental sustainability,
and place-making initiatives and projects.
Styled by talented BCH behavioral health care coordinator Suzanne Conversano,
Pattie Pato wears a lab coat with a colorful braid that adds some old-school
hippie flair. She cares for her community members, giving them a lift
on her back, and wears a placard touting the `BCH Listens' patient
care initiative. Over the next couple of weeks, Pattie will be popping
up in a few favorite local spots, so stay tuned for more photos!
Please come out for the next Walk on September 15 at East Boulder Community
Park (5660 Sioux Drive) from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. Internal medicine physician
Dr. Elizabeth Lycett of Frontier Internal Medicine will share advice for preventing falls in
honor of Falls Prevention Month. Get the schedule and details: bch.org/walkwithadoc.
