Physician Bio
Dr. Brian Nelson attended the University of California, Los Angeles, and
received a B.S. in biomechanics and exercise physiology. He then went
on to receive his M.D. from George Washington School of Medicine in Washington,
D.C., where he ranked in the top ten percent of his class. Dr. Nelson
completed an internship in family medicine at the University of Utah,
Salt Lake City. He then completed a residency in OB/GYN at the Reading
Hospital and Medical Center in Reading, PA.
Dr. Nelson maintains a special interest in pelvic organ prolapse, urinary
incontinence, painful bladder, and fecal incontinence. This encompasses
the new subspecialty of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery
for which he is board certified; the only physician in Boulder County
with this distinction. He is experienced in many types of pelvic surgery,
using robotic, vaginal and laparoscopic techniques. Dr. Nelson is the
most experienced OB/GYN in Longmont performing robotically assisted surgery
with the da Vinci® robot for hysterectomy, prolapse, uterine fibroids,
and endometriosis. This technology is minimally invasive, offers better
visualization for the surgeon and is safer for the patient. Dr. Nelson
is also the only gynecologist in Boulder County performing robotic sacrocolpopexy,
the gold standard for uterine and vaginal prolapse (cystocele and rectocele.)
Dr. Nelson recently appeared on Channel 9's Colorado and Company to
discuss the benefits of robotic surgery. Click on this link to view the

In addition, Dr. Nelson is trained in caring for high risk pregnancies
and performs his own obstetrical ultrasounds. He is board certified and
is a member of the American Urogynecologic Society, the Society of Robotic
Surgery, and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. He
recently was voted The Most Compassionate Physician by patients on Vitals.com.
He joined Longmont Clinic in September 2001.
