I'm always utterly and phenomenally blown away by the exceptional quality, efficiency, and compassion of the service at Boulder Community Hospital and this particular clinic. I was seen right away, everything was exceptionally organized, the staff were beyond wonderful, and I got exactly what I needed. Even the tests I needed were immediately arranged and ordered. Everything so excellent it makes me want to cry...

While I am satisfied with the doctor I saw, Boulder Creek Family Medicine has a huge, glaring problem that I must address: It's phone-tree system, and hold times. Your phone system is an absolute disaster. Why do 99% of people call your main number? Because they are patients who need to schedule an appointment. Thus, that should be the FIRST option, i.e., press button #1 to schedule an appointment. That would actually make us feel like we are a priority, and actual humans that you all care a single iota about. But what is the actual reality on your phone system? I'll tell you. Better yet, call your own phone system, from an outside number and you'll see what I mean. First, patients are subjected to a painfully long, monotone message from someone who sounds like Charlie Brown's substitute teacher. It drones on and on, giving primacy to mind-numbing obvious things like if we have a real emergency call 911. Wow, like most people don't know that. But then it drones on and on, first listing a potpourri of exotic items such as needing to send a fax, a pharmacy, if you're tied to the side of ocean liner in the South China Sea, etc. etc. Finally, after far too long of all these things, the unfortunate patient at long last hears the thing they actually care about. Mind you....this is if they're still paying attention at all. All sarcasm aside, what is painfully obvious from your phone tree system is that you could care less about ill patients (who are already not feeling good) who call in with the hope of reasonably efficient service. And then....wait....there's more....then when one does select a button to push, one is subjected to not one, but two lengthy hold times. First, to speak to someone, and then after 10 minutes of waiting for that person, they are then transferred to another person, whereupon they wait another 10 minutes. More than once, with your practice, I have gotten 90% of the way through this inhumane gauntlet, only to have the line go dead. And then I get to start all over. I would give Boulder Creek Family Medicine's front end intake and phone process an absolute F minus. Call your own phone system, and ask yourself if you'd feel like a valued customer, listening to that dull droning voice forever, until you finally hear an option that has any remote relevance to your immediate need. It is beyond awful. In this, Boulder Creek Family Medicine is unfortunately embodying everything that's wrong with America's medical system: de-humanizing, crowd of cattle treatment that puts the patient dead last. Boulder deserves better. Your patients deserve better.
