Wael Garas grew up in Columbus, OH and went to The Ohio State University
for both his B.S. and M.D. He completed his internal medicine residency
at the University of Nevada in 2004 and made Boulder his home in 2005.
Dr. Garas worked as a hospitalist at St. Anthony North from 2005 to 2010,
where he was chief of medicine. He then completed the fellowship in Integrative
Medicine through the University of Arizona under the direction of Andrew
Weil MD and transitioned into a primary care practice, working for Exempla
Internal Medicine of Lafayette. In addition, he was the medical director
of the Center for Integrative Medicine at Exempla Good Samaritan and oversaw
its growth including the expansion of acupuncture services, beginning
a therapeutic yoga program, and instituting an educational program including
frequent lectures and a blog. A desire to come back to the faster pace
of hospital medicine and to practice within his community led Dr. Garas to BCH.
Wael enjoys many outdoor activities including hiking, skiing, and running.
He is a committed yoga practitioner and enjoys cooking and playing piano
as well as spending time with his wife and daughter.
