Monthly Nutrition Workshops
Learn how you can boost your body’s natural defenses against disease
and support your recovery by eating delicious, nutritious foods. Get answers
to your questions about healthy eating. Practical support in the form
of recipes, handouts, and articles will be provided. In addition to their
educational content, our workshops provide an engaging forum for participants
to support each other and exchange ideas.
Health Starts in the Gut. You aren’t just what you eat; you are what you can digest and absorb!
Find out how you can optimize your digestion and absorption (particularly
important if you’re trying to gain weight). Also, tips for easing
some of the GI side-effects of cancer treatment.
Oct 14: Feeding Your Loved One: A guide for caregivers. Spouses, parents, children or friends often feel
at a loss as to how best to support a person with cancer. This workshop
offers practical suggestions to help support the care team of anyone with cancer.
Nov 11: Healthy Kitchen, Healthy Home. Some chemicals in our food and our environment are thought to increase
our risk of cancer. Find out how you can lower the toxic load on your
body by choosing clean food, safe cookware, mild cleaning chemicals, safe
body care products, and cosmetics.
Dec 9: New Year’s Resolutions. At this workshop we will show you 10 ways you can use diet and lifestyle
to reduce your cancer risk in 2020. We’ll also talk about how to
adopt healthy new behaviors - and stick to them!
Facilitator: Conner Middelmann, a nutritionist and 18-year cancer survivor,
is a passionate advocate of eating whole foods that aren't just healthy,
but delicious, too. With her joyful and practical approach to nutrition,
anchored in the Mediterranean diet, she shows cancer patients –
current and former – and their caregivers simple, tasty ways to
boost their nutritional health.
$10 per session, payable at the event (no charge for partners or caregivers.
