Gait Analysis

gait 3Biomechanical Gait Analysis:
It is not uncommon for people to feel pain while walking or running.  A biomechanical gait analysis is a useful tool in diagnosing the reasons for the pain.  A physical therapist first evaluates potential causes for the client's discomfort.  Next, the client is filmed from several different angles while walking or running on a treadmill.  The therapist will watch the client's body movements from the neck down to the feet, looking for abnormalities that are creating the problem, or that are caused by the problem.  Your gait will also be analyzed further with the use of Dartfish digital video analysis software.  Our therapists then use the information obtained in the filming to help them create appropriate gait modification strategies.  Gait analysis can be used to prevent and diagnose biomechanical issues and improve performance. You will also lgait-dartfisheave with a CD containing the video footage taken during the day's appointment.  This CD will also provide a comparison of the footage taken before and after gait modifications were made as well as a few exercises that may be helpful in augmenting the new gait training techniques.
