Simone has worked as a sports medicine and orthopedic physical therapist since 1982 when she graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. Her first degree was a B.S. in biology from the college of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
At Boulder Center for Sports Medicine, one of Simone’s specialties is gait analysis, although she is very skilled in manual therapy as well. Simone is also one of our telemark coaches for the Friday Afternoon Club at Eldora Mountain Resort. Since becoming a physical therapist, Simone has been involved in fitness screenings for local citizens groups, high schools and for MS clients at the Jimmy Heuga Center in Vail, Colorado. She also provides first aid coverage for a variety of local and national sporting competitions held in Boulder, Colorado.
Simone’s skills in orthopedic rehabilitation have carried over into the industrial setting where she has provided on-site physical therapy for local companies and individualized ergonomic evaluations for their employees. Simone designs and implements a back school program, which is used for physical therapy clients, in new employee orientations, and for employees of local companies. She has a background in the evaluation of lower quarter dysfunctions from a whole body perspective and in formulating foot orthotic recommendations when needed. Her continuing education focus has been on exercise prescription, manual therapy techniques and the evaluation and treatment of specific areas such as knees, feet, shoulders and the spine. Simone’s clients come from a wide range of backgrounds, ages and orthopedic rehabilitation needs.
Simone participated in a variety of team sports throughout high school and college including softball, basketball, field hockey and lacrosse. Since graduating, her interests have shifted to more individualized athletic pursuits such as running, mountain biking, telemark skiing, skate skiing, scuba diving and river rafting with her husband and two children.
