Matt is a Certified Physician Assistant and Certified Athletic Trainer at the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine. Matt grew up in Tucson, Arizona. From 1991-1995 he attended the University of Akron, Ohio, where he pursued a bachelor of science degree in athletic training. Matt was also an NCAA Division I varsity soccer player for the University of Akron Zips. After graduating in 1995, Matt pursued a master of science degree in exercise physiology, also at The University of Akron. Matt was a graduate assistant in the sports medicine program working with Division I sports including football, soccer, softball and volleyball. After receiving his bachelor of science degree in athletic training and a master of science degree in exercise physiology, Matt moved back home to Arizona. He put his training to use working for the University Medical Center in the Cardiovascular/Pulmonary Rehabilitation program and Employee Wellness Program, evaluating and rehabilitating orthopedic injuries for healthy and diseased patients.
Matt joined the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine team in 2001 as a clinical athletic trainer. In 2003, Matt was accepted to the Red Rocks Community College Physician Assistant Program in Lakewood, Colorado. Returning to his roots, he re-joined the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine as a Certified Physician Assistant, working with his mentor, Dr. Andy Pruitt, Ed.D., PA, ATC. His supervising physician is Dr. Jason Glowney.
As a Certified Physician Assistant, Matt specializes in primary care and sports medicine injuries. He has a special interest in the running, cycling, and triathlon communities. Matt also shares the team physician responsibility for Fairview High School with William Burton, MD.
