Kathleen Farrell is a registered dietitian, certified health fitness instructor, and has a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology. She received her B.S. in dietetics from the College of St. Teresa's in Winona, MN, completed her dietetic internship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, and got her Masters from the University of Illinois-Urbana. She has 24 years of experience as a dietitian (community, clinical, education, research, and sports nutrition). In the research area, Kathleen worked as a research associate at the University of Illinois Body Composition Laboratory where she oversaw several body composition studies and provided nutrition support. As a dietitian, Kathleen has worked in both a community and clinic setting, working with WIC in Rapid City, SD, in cardiac care in Cheyenne, WY, and additionally, as a sports dietitian at the SportsWell Clinic in Urbana-Champaign, IL. She has also had the opportunity to teach at the University level at the University of Illinois, University of Northern Colorado, and the University of Colorado at Boulder. Currently, Kathleen is a sports dietitian for Boulder Center for Sports Medicine and a Research Dietitian for an independent, university-based clinical research center in Boulder. Kathleen's areas of interest are regional fat distribution in relationship to chronic disease and sports nutrition.
