Do you want to prevent cycling related injuries?
Pedaling a bicycle is a very repetitive motion. It is not uncommon for cyclists to accumulate over 5000 revolutions in one hour of riding. During your bike fit the clinician will review your medical history, and take into account your cycling goals and any potential physical problems. Your seat height, fore-aft position, cleats and wedge placement (if needed) will be adjusted to help reduce injury potential and improve your position on the bike. We will also make any necessary adjustments to your stem and handlebars. Do you have a cycling related injury?
Correct body posture on the bike can prevent injury, eliminate pain, make cycling more enjoyable and even improve performance. Clients first undergo a medical evaluation to find any potential problems, such as previous injuries, pain, or inequalities between strength and flexibility. With the evaluation results in mind, our specially trained clinicians evaluate the client on their bike, and make adjustments to the bike so it fits the client. If needed, we will recommend a medical follow-up, stretches or exercises to help reduce pain while cycling. 3-Dimensional Cycling Analysis:
3-D technology by Peak Performance aids our staff in analyzing your cycling gait in real time. We use six infrared cameras coupled with advanced computer technology to analyze motion in three dimensions. Reflective markers are plac ed on specific anatomic landmarks, which allows clinicians to accurately analyze cycling gait. This information is then used to make appropriate changes to the bike. These changes can greatly improve performance, prevent injuries and make cycling more enjoyable. Performance Bike Fit: The performance bike fit is a static (no 3-D motion analysis) bike fit with one of our biomechanics specialists. This is a 2-hour appointment where your current position is evaluated and adjusted with your cycling goals in mind. This fit is ideal for the person who is new to cycling and wants to be sure they are in an appropriate biomechanical position, to avoid injury due to repetitive cycling motions. Performance 3D Cycling Gait Analysis: The performance 3D cycling gait analysis is a 2.5-hour appointment with Sean Madsen, our biomechanist. This fit uses our 3D motion analysis software to aid and enhance the quality and precision of your cycling gait analysis. This fit is perfect for the recreational to professional cyclist who is primarily interested in performance and the comfort on their bike rather than the evaluation and treatment of an injury. Medical Bike Fit: The medical bike fit is a static bike fit with a physical therapist on our clinical bike fit staff. This is a 2-hour appointment during which your current position is evaluated and adjusted according to your medical concerns. Medical 3D Cycling Gait Analysis: The medical 3D cycling gait analysis is a 2-hour appointment with two of our clinical bike fit staff members: an experienced sports medicine physical therapist or Dr. Andy Pruitt and one of our experienced biomechanists. This fit incorporates our 3D motion analysis software in aiding and enhancing the quality and precision of your cycling gait analysis. The goal of the fit is to use the data gathered from the 3D system to aid our clinical bike fit staff in making adjustments to your bike according to your medical concerns. Size Cycle Bike Fit: The Size C ycle bike fit is a two-step process during which we can help you find the right frame for you. During your first appointment our biomechanist will evaluate your position on our Serotta Size Cycle. In this way we will find your ideal road, mo untain, or time trial position and the frame size that can put you there. The second appointment includes another 90 minutes with our biomechanist on the newly purchased bike during which we do a detailed 3D analysis to finely tune your position on your new bike.
