Third Party or Proxy Access

1) Can I give my family member or other user access to my account?
Yes. If you elect to, you can provide third party access or "proxy access" to your account. Proxy access enables parents and legal guardians to access their child, family, or companion’s online health information. Due to HIPAA regulations, the consenting parties must fill out the necessary forms at the hospital in order to gain proxy access. This request must be made in person to our Medical Records Department on the BCH Foothills Campus in the Tebo Family Medical Pavilion at 4715 Arapahoe, Suite G30 or on the BCH Broadway campus at the BCH Medical Pavilion at 1155 Alpine Street, Suite 260 in Boulder. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

2) Can I get access to my child or family member’s account?
Yes, a parent or legal guardian of a minor may request proxy access to view their child’s account. This request must occur in person, and both parties must be present to complete the appropriate paperwork. To do this, please visit our Medical Records Department on the BCH Foothills Campus in the Tebo Family Medical Pavilion at 4715 Arapahoe, Suite G30 or at the BCH Broadway campus at the BCH Medical Pavilion at 1155 Alpine Street, Suite 260 in Boulder. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

3) Will proxy access automatically be severed once a minor reaches a certain age?
Proxy access of minors will automatically be severed once an enrolled user reaches the age of 13. Per State and Federal guidelines, after the child reaches age 13 all proxy access from the child’s account will be removed and new proxy request forms submitted in person by both the child and the parent.

4) What is the proper procedure for disabling proxy access (other than minors)?
Just like signing up, removing proxy access can only be done in-person. This can be done by visiting our Medical Records Department on the BCH Foothills Campus at 4715 Arapahoe, Suite G30 or at the BCH Broadway campus at the BCH Medical Pavilion at 1155 Alpine Street, Suite 260 in Boulderin Boulder and submitting a revocation form.

5) What happens once I get third party access set up?
You will receive a Welcome Email with a one-time user name and password and a link to access MyBCH Health Services within two (2) business days.

6) What if my Welcome Email does not arrive?
If you have not received an email within two (2) business days, please contact Medical Records at 720-854-7760. You will be asked to answer some security questions to validate your identity.

7) How do I access information once I am set up as a proxy?
Once you have been granted proxy access by applying in person, you can log into MyBCH Health Services and select "Change Person" on the top right corner. You will then be able to select the name of all users you have proxy access to view. You can see which additional patients you have proxy access to by clicking "Preferences" at the bottom of the MyBCH Health Services Home Page.
