The Choice Is Yours Obstetricians specialize in the care of women during pregnancy. They also can treat infertility and provide medical and surgical treatment for problems with a woman's reproductive organs. Family physicians care for patients of all ages and handle a wide range of medical problems. Family physicians have a broad range of training that includes obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatrics, among other areas. Obstetricians and family physicians can earn board certification, which means they have completed specialized training after medical school and passed a comprehensive examination in their specialty.
