And it’s easy to do. Simply show up at your scheduled appointment and 90 minutes later you’re done. Nine Painless Screenings The HeartCaring package includes nine painless screenings that look at everything from blood flow in your arteries to bone density and cholesterol level. HeartCaring screens for some major health risks, including: plaque build up in the carotid arteries, which is a primary cause of stroke weakness in the abdominal aorta, which can lead to a potentially fatal aneurysm hardening of the arteries, which increases the risk of heart disease osteoporosis, a bone-weakening disease that increases your risk of a fracture diabetes, which increases your risk for developing heart disease, blindness, nerve damage and kidney damage
The specific screenings include: - a lipid panel, which measures cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides
- ultrasound measurements of blood flow in the carotid arteries and the aortic artery
- a heel scan to measure bone density
- a blood pressure test for hardening of the arteries
- a measure of your lung strength
- a glucose level
- a written test to identify an abnormal level of daytime sleepiness, which is an indicator of a potential sleep disorder
