Breast Cancer Navigator Guides You in Your Cancer Journey

If you’ve just received a breast cancer diagnosis, you may feel unsure about what to do next. Take comfort in knowing that our highly experienced breast cancer nurse navigator Nanna Bo Christensen, RN, OCN, CBCN, will be there to guide you through the confusing maze of a breast cancer diagnosis.

"Women are often overwhelmed when they first get a diagnosis. They don't hear anything besides, 'You have breast cancer,' and are frozen in that moment," says Nanna, who attempts to get in touch with patients within 24 hours of their diagnosis. "Sometimes women learn they have breast cancer when they're on their cell phone while shopping, driving or working, and they’re not in a place to ask any questions. I ask them what, exactly, they heard their doctor say, and help clarify any misunderstandings."

Nanna will also be there to help you through your entire breast cancer journey, from scheduling tests and screenings to steering you to the right resources or services.

“A patient can quickly have many doctors she needs to see within a week, and that can be stressful. I assist in coordinating appointments, which relieves some of the stress,” Nanna says. “I also help educate patients on their treatment options such as chemotherapy, radiation, surgery or hormone therapy.”
